Short Film: Fragments

Andrea Ratti - Fragments

I was absolutely honoured to be asked by my friend and colleague Andrea Ratti if I could score his short film. Fragments… It was awesome to get back in the chair to compose the score and we adapted great working to get this completed during the COVID-19 lockdown! I hosted daily 3-5 hours private live streams in which Andrea could be with me in the session for guidance and spotting, it was just like having him in the same room in some ways!

So what’s Fragments about? The short version is "the story is about a man who buys a devise enabling him to see past memories. It soon becomes an addiction jeopardising his life”.

Wanting the full synopsis? Sure…

“A man receives a package in which lays a device allowing him to upload memories onto a computer to watch and re-experience. This soon becomes an addiction. One particular memory longs for his partner. He revisits the images of joy and tenderness. This soon troubles his wellbeing. He becomes unstable and his house becomes emptier as days turn into months. With now a tablet for the device, he becomes wary. The memories consume him. He becomes exhausted and collapses. He faints into a coma. After his long stay, he comes back home. The man has neither recollection nor the device’s memory. He reopens the device. Having it re-plugged, all the memories appear jumbled and unrecognisable.”
